Mocs prep for second scrimmage

Friday, August 19, 2011

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team looked sharp for most of this morning's practice at Scrappy Moore Field, the Mocs' last morning session of the preseason and last before Saturday's scrimmage.

Mocs coach Russ Huesman's only complaint came in the final few plays, during a "last play of the game" series when the offense tried to complete a Hail Mary pass. On back to back plays, the defense was able to sack B.J. Coleman despite going after the quarterback with just a three-man rush.

"At the end there we looked a little disorganized, disheveled - one of those dis-words," Huesman said.

Last Friday during UTC's first scrimmage of the preseason, the defense got the better of the offense by a wide margin. It's been a much more competitive week - "a great week," Coleman said - and the two sides will go at it again during Saturday's scrimmage at Finley Stadium.

UTC will have its third annual Meet the Mocs autograph session at 1 p.m. and the scrimmage begins at 2:30.
