• Baylor: Senior Matthew Oellerich completed 11 of 14 passes for 143 yards and three TDs with no interceptions as the Red Raiders opened their home season in grand fashion with a 48-0 victory over Soddy-Daisy. Oellerich also scored their first TD on a 9-yard run.

• Bledsoe County: Just when folks begin worrying about Warriors quarterback Cody Holloway they forget about versatile Brandon Smith. The former had a pair of TD passes but Smith had three rushing TDs to go with a 28-carry, 260-yard effort.

• Brainerd: Maleek Rooks scored on a 69-yard pass on the game's first play from scrimmage but the Panthers were overwhelmed 41-7 at Ooltewah.

• Boyd-Buchanan: Chase Reed scored three TDs, one on a 66-yard punt return in the Buccaneers' 27-7 win over Chattanooga Christian. The senior picked up 83 yards on 19 carries with scoring runs of 29 and 12 yards.

• Bradley Central: Justin Houston ran just nine times but put up 164 yards and three TDs to lead the Bears to a 34-12 victory over Polk County.

• Chattanooga Christian: Although he was intercepted twice, Levi Corbett threw for 232 yards while completing 29 of 51 passes (56.8 percent) for 232 yards in the Chargers' 27-7 loss to Boyd-Buchanan.

• Cleveland: The Blue Raiders got shut out by Alcoa, which has won seven straight state titles, but linebacker Jesse Jones keyed a defense that held the Tornado scoreless in the second half.

• East Hamilton: Tre Herndon pulled in seven catches for 109 yards but the Hurricanes were no match for Signal Mountain in a 34-13 loss.

• East Ridge: Demetrius Bumpass turned in a 7-for-7 passing night good for 116 yards and two TDs as the Pioneers went on the road and stunned Walker Valley 39-17.

• Gordon Lee: Adam Vandiver scored on a 34-yard run that boosted his team to a 13-0 lead and finished with 105 yards on just six carries as they bested host Silverdale Baptist 25-7.

• Grace Academy: Josh Smith threw for 251 yards and three TDs and the Eagles scored 48 points but still lost to Notre Dame 61-48.

• Grundy County: The Yellowjackets were counting on Johnny Cook being a workhorse and his 230-yard rushing effort keyed a 21-6 victory over valley rival Marion County. Cook, who scored on runs of 39, 2 and 3 yards, had 30 carries as Grundy ended an eight-game losing streak at the Warriors' hands.

• Lookout Valley: Jamal Jones rushed for 136 yards and two TDs in the Jackets' 42-6 victory over Midway. Chris Walton added 140 on just four carries and added two interceptions.

• Marion County: Matt Zeman rushed for 98 yards and passed for 167 and a TD but the Warriors came up short against Grundy County, 21-6.

• Meigs County: The Tigers rallied from a 14-0 deficit to give Ricky Holliday a win in his head coaching debut, 26-14 over visiting Upperman. Travis Savage scored three TDs, one on an 82-yard kickoff return, and finished with 232 rushing yards for the Tigers.

• Notre Dame: Matt Reilly caught 11 passes for 163 with four TD receptions and also returned a kickoff 85 yards as the Irish outscored Grace Academy 61-48.

• Ooltewah: Desmond Pittman scored twice and gained 101 yards on 18 carries as the Owls rallied from a 7-0 deficit with 41 unanswered points to win their home opener against Brainerd.

• Polk County: Derrick Saxe scored a TD and rushed for 73 yards but the Wildcats lost their opener to neighboring rival Bradley Central 34-12.

• Rhea County: Desmond Sharp scored a TD and rushed for 95 yards but the Golden Eagles fell at home to Knox Powell in Doug Greene's head coaching debut.

• Sequatchie County: Eli Stout scored on runs of 29 and 44 yards, picking up 110 yards on seven carries as the Indians defeated York Institute 36-22.

• Signal Mountain: Senior Zack Bowman averaged 17.8 yards per carry (6-107) and scored two TDs in the Eagles' 34-13 win over East Hamilton.

• Silverdale Baptist: Spencer Mossburg scored the Seahawks' only TD in a 25-7 loss to Gordon Lee.

• Soddy-Daisy: Cedric Edwards rushed 17 times for 94 yards in the Trojans' loss at Baylor.

• Walker Valley: Kelvin Wells turned in a 100-yard rushing performance -- 20 carries, 116 yards with a pair of touchdowns -- but the Mustangs lost their home opener 39-17 to East Ridge.
