A Dalton, Ga., cheerleading coach arrested earlier this year on a methamphetamine charge was arrested again Saturday on a charge of driving under the influence.

Police said Dwight Cook, 27, had been drinking and driving and had an open container in his vehicle.

Cook was arrested on Saturday and taken to jail on charges of DUI, having an open alcohol container and an outstanding warrant for criminal trespassing, Tunnel Hill, Ga., Police Chief Roy Brunson said. The chief said he didn't know the origin of the criminal trespassing charge.

Cook, the owner and coach of Sideline All-Stars gym in Dalton, was released on a $3,200 bond, Records show. This was his second recent DUI charge, a Whitfield County jail employee said.

Cook was charged in March with selling meth from his business, police said. At the time, other charges included possession of meth and possession with intent to distribute.

He has a Sept. 7 court date to determine if the meth case will go to trial at the end of the month or be continued until the next calendar session, a Whitfield County Clerk of Court employee said.

Cook was one of the four instructors at the gym, which coached a competitive cheer squad called the Vipers. The gym's telephone number has been disconnected and the website taken down.

Cook didn't return emails sent to his work account.

When Cook was pulled over Saturday, a Tunnel Hill officer smelled alcohol on his breath and saw the open container, Brunson said. Cook refused an alcohol test but was booked in the Whitfield County Jail, the chief said.
