CHATTANOOGA - A Hamilton County Sheriff's deputy crashed his cruiser on 7400 Old Lee Highway while answering a burglary call Tuesday afternoon. According to a news release emailed to Channel 3 Eyewitness News, the deputy was responding to a burglary in progress call when he proceeded through the intersection at Old Lee Highway and Jenkins Road and struck another vehicle.

The driver of that vehicle, a 39-year-old woman, was injured in the crash and transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Her 18-year-old son who was a passenger in the vehicle, was not injured.

Investigators with the Chattanooga Police Department as well as the HCSD will both investigate the crash. Traffic around Old Lee Highway, Jenkins Road and Bonny Oaks will be slow during the investigation.
