I know a daughter who has a whooping coming to her
wow! I would've hit her too! Put that child in time out and spank that booty!!! She would feel guilt the rest of her life if her mother had passed away due to her nonsense behavior! Kids these days, I swear!
The mother had the responsibility of handling the vehicle safely. What on earth was she doing trying to hit the daughter while driving? The daughter obviously learned her behavior from her mother!
How old was the daughter? The article doesn't say. MrDock, it doesn't sound as if the daughter is three or four year old who could be placed in "time out" to teach her lesson.
The old line, "If I have to stop this car..." worked well with my three for years...it had become a standing joke to defuse a difficult situation [everyone ended up laughing] but it worked. Now the first or second time you say it without response, you must follow through. Once they realize the immediate result to their action, they don't recur.
'Course, taking immediate disciplinary action would put you in jail for child abuse, these days. I thank God mine are all grown with kids of their own. [They, also, use the phrase on theirs.]
This was not a child, in the carseat sense...she wouldn't have been in the front seat...unless Mom is a really bad lawbreaker.
Good question as to who in the SUV was the child...
@brokentoe- I was showing sarcasm with the "Time-Out" statement- that part was meant to be a funny thing- perhaps you took me wrong :)
Coming from an extremely abusive household I would like to now what was the fight about and why the hell was the mother hitting her? Was it normal for the mother to hit her? Without knowing more details we should not be passing judgement on either people. All I know if, coming from the home I did, if my mother and I had been arguing and she hit me then out of panic and fear I probably would of grabbed something too and it could of been the steering wheel. Don't blaim the child until you know the situation.
