The Oak Ridge Boys are bringing the man with the long white beard to town Monday -- and we don't mean baritone William Lee Golden.
Santa Claus will join the Oaks for their Christmas show Monday night in Memorial Auditorium. The legendary country quartet is composed of Duane Allen, Richard Sterban and Joe Bonsall along with Golden.
In addition to showcasing more than three decades of hits, the Oaks' show will be a birthday tribute of sorts to their favorite lady: "Elvira." That song, which won the CMA for Single of the Year in 1981 and a Grammy in 1982 for Best Vocal Performance by a Country Group or Duo, is marking its 30th anniversary.
In honor of that milestone, "Elvira" got a face-lift of sorts when the guys re-recorded the song for a new CD, "It's Only Natural," which was released in September. The album includes five new songs, including the current single, "What'cha Gonna Do," and seven fan favorites. It's sold exclusively at Cracker Barrel Old Country Stores.
As part of that collaboration, the Oak Ridge Boys will be making an appearance at noon Monday at the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, 2346 Shallowford Village Drive, near Hamilton Place, according to Callan Donoho of Webster PR. The guys will greet fans and sign autographs for one hour.
