United Way hits two-thirds of goal

The United Way of Greater Chattanooga's community campaign has satisfied almost two-thirds of its $11.5 million fundraising goal, officials said.

As of Thursday, the campaign had raised $7.5 million, about 65 percent of its target goal.

"We've worked very hard this year to invigorate our corporate campaigns, get the United Way message out in more communities and bring in new company campaigns and individual donors," said campaign Chairman Tom Glenn, president of the local Ace Hardware group. "Every campaign has its own unique challenges, and this one is no different, but the work is going extremely well and I have no doubt we will make our campaign goal."

United Way officials said individuals or companies that haven't had a chance to contribute to the campaign may still do so by calling 752-0370 or visiting www.LiveUnitedChattanooga.org.
