As Hamilton County commissioners discussed the Mainx24 event last week, Commissioner Joe Graham announced he would be cooking as part of the breakfast at Fire Station No. 1.
Mainx24 is a 24-hour Saturday-to-Sunday celebration featuring open houses, activities and events in Chattanooga's Main Street and Southside areas.
"I'll also be helping out with the pancake breakfast, so everybody come on out and eat," Graham said.
Commissioner Larry Henry, in a jab at Graham's culinary skills, snickered, "I'll bet you can cook those pancakes."

CHAMBER CHALLENGES LOCALS
Tom Edd Wilson, president and CEO of the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce, has challenged the organization's members to help stock the Teacher Supply Depot.
The depot receives private and corporate donations of thousands of items to redistribute to public school teachers across the county.
In 2003, the Chamber issued a similar challenge, hoping to bring in $40,000 worth of goods and services for the depot. Members donated more than $380,000 in goods and services, PTA officials said.
The depot has constant needs for numerous items, including arts and crafts materials, office supplies, paper products, plastic products, medical supplies and multimedia items.
To schedule a drop-off, email firstname.lastname@example.org. Monetary contributions may be sent to: Hamilton County Council of PTAs Teacher Supply Depot, 3074 Hickory Valley Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
