One person dead in St. Elmo crash

4200 block St. Elmo Avenue

Chattanooga Police say one person was killed and another injured in a wreck in St. Elmo this morning at about the same time as officers responded to a "shots fired" call in the same area.

Police say a car ran off the road in the 4200 block of Tennessee Avenue around 5 a.m. The male passenger died, dispatchers said. No information was available on the driver this afternoon, and police dispatchers would not say if the crash and reported shooting are related.
