Thomas to appear on Golf Channel

Former McCallie golfer Jordan Thomas will be featured during a special segment of 'Golf Central' which will air Monday night at 6 on the Golf Channel.

The feature catches up with Thomas who lost both legs below his knee in a scuba accident when he was 16-years-old. The accident led to the creation of the Jordan Thomas Foundation which assists children in obtaining costly prosthetics.

"For the people in Chattanooga, a lot of them have seen my progress, but they don't know where I'm going," Thomas said. "We're showing the vision of where we're going and what we're ultimately trying to do with the foundation."

Golf Channel representatives, including reporter Jason Sobel, attended the foundation's annual Low-Country Boil in October, interviewed recipients from the foundation, and followed him around Chattanooga Golf & Country Club for a day.

"It's not the most comfortable thing have a crew follow you around, especially when you hit it like a dog all day," said Thomas, whose average round hovers around par. "I see this as a platform to give a voice to people who don't normally, or haven't traditionally had a voice."

Thomas, a finalist for CNN Hero of the Year in 2009, transferred from the College of Charleston to Rollins College where he earned President's List and Dean's List honors for the fall semester with a perfect 4.0 GPA while studying international business.
