UTC's Wes Dothard named All-American

Much to his surprise, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga sophomore linebacker Wes Dothard was named to the Sports Network's Football Championship Subdivision All-America first team Monday.

Dothard, a first-team All-Southern Conference pick by the league's coaches, was sixth in the league with 98 tackles and third with 15.5 tackles for loss. He also forced a league-high five fumbles, returned a fumble for a touchdown and an interception for a score.

Dothard said he was "shocked" when he received word that he was an All-American.

Also on the All-America teams were a trio of players from the Chattanooga area: Tennessee Tech wide receiver Tim Benford (second team), Georgia Southern kicker Adrian Mora (third team) and Tennessee State linebacker Rico Council (third team).
