Wofford defeated UTC 28-27 in the final game of the year at Finley Stadium Saturday.Much to his surprise, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga sophomore linebacker Wes Dothard was named to the Sports Network's Football Championship Subdivision All-America first team Monday.
Dothard, a first-team All-Southern Conference pick by the league's coaches, was sixth in the league with 98 tackles and third with 15.5 tackles for loss. He also forced a league-high five fumbles, returned a fumble for a touchdown and an interception for a score.
Dothard said he was "shocked" when he received word that he was an All-American.
Also on the All-America teams were a trio of players from the Chattanooga area: Tennessee Tech wide receiver Tim Benford (second team), Georgia Southern kicker Adrian Mora (third team) and Tennessee State linebacker Rico Council (third team).
