PTAs seek end-of-year donations for Teacher Supply Depot

Hamilton County Council of PTAs is seeking end-of-the-year donations for the Teacher Supply Depot in preparation for its next Teacher Shopping Day in February.

Hamilton County public school teachers, who are members of a Hamilton County public school PTA, can "shop for free" at the depot. The depot is located inside the former Mary Ann Garber School, 2225 Roanoke Ave.

Council officials said many teachers do not have a school supply budget, so they use their own money to buy students' supplies. The Supply Depot helps take the financial burden off teachers by helping them stock their classrooms.

All donations are tax deductible. To make a donation, send an email to teachersupplydepot@hcde.org. For more information go to www.hcptacouncil.org.

Needed materials include arts and crafts supplies, Play Doh, play money, reward items, sidewalk chalk, manila file folders, plastic or pocket folders, prong folders, baby wipes, tissues, hand sanitizer, Band-Aids, household cleaning items, AA and AAA batteries, straws, Styrofoam meat trays and clothespins.

Also, measuring tapes, plastic buckets, seeds and potting containers, CD cases, children's music CDs and DVDs, notebooks of all sizes, office supplies, paints and smocks, writing tablets or loose-leaf paper, paper products, pencils and pencil sharpeners, highlighters, Sharpies, black or red pens, ziploc bags, plastic bowls and utensils, duct or masking tape, and any other type of teaching supplies.
