Pedestrian hit by car in Dalton

A Calhoun, Ga., man was hospitalized with head injuries after he ran out into traffic and was hit by a car early Saturday morning, Dalton police said.

Witnesses saw Frankie Davis run onto Walnut Avenue from the parking lot of the Kangaroo convenience store at Airport Road just before 4 a.m., according to a police news release.

Davis, 39, was hit by a vehicle driven by Emmanuel Ayala-Mercado, 19, of Chatsworth, Ga., the release stated.

Davis was taken to Hamilton Medical Center where his condition was unknown Friday afternoon.

Ayala-Mercado was uninjured, the report stated.

The city's traffic enforcement unit is investigating.
