On Christmas Eve, just before 1 a.m., a Middle Valley man ran to his neighbors' house, calling for help. He was dripping blood and holding a rag to his head.

Joe Davies had been stabbed twice, and he wanted his neighbor Ken Dotson to call 911.

A few minutes later, an ambulance arrived at 938 Wesley Drive and took Davies to a hospital.

Hamilton County deputies later arrested Angela Davies on a charge of attempted first-degree murder, sheriff's office spokeswoman Janice Atkinson said in a news release.

Joe Davies told deputies he and Angela Davies argued after she spilled a drink in bed, and he told her she couldn't have anything more to drink. She then followed him to the basement, according to Atkinson, and stabbed him at least twice.

The sheriff's news release described the two as husband and wife, but Dotson said he believes they aren't married. He said they have been living together in the house for six months, and he didn't know of any problems between them.

"He's a real laid-back, quiet guy," Dotson said of Davies.

There was no word on Davies' condition Saturday evening. Angela Davies is in the Hamilton County Jail, Atkinson said.
