New and expanding businesses announced plans this year to invest $143.2 million and add or keep 803 jobs in the Chattanooga area. The projects include:
1. Life Care Centers retirement home in Ooltewah, projected to cost $41 million and add 250 jobs
2. Archer Daniels Midland relocation of its flour milling plant to Enterprise South, projected to cost $25 million and keep 25 jobs
3. CarMax dealership on Overnite Drive, projected to cost $20 million and create 60 jobs
4. Mann + Hummel USA automotive parts plant in Dunlap, Tenn., projected to cost $15 million and add 150 jobs
5. Craftworks Restaurants and Breweries new company headquarters on the Southside, projected to cost $11 million and add 75 jobs
6. Roadtec plant expansion, projected to cost nearly $9.3 million and create 90 jobs
7. Akzo Nobel specialty chemicals and coatings plant expansion, projected to cost $6.7 million and add seven jobs
8. Gestamp Corp., expansion of its automotive stamping plant, projected to cost $3 million
9. Hamilton Funeral Home & Cremation Services, projected to cost $2 million and add 10 jobs
10. LJT steel warehouse expansion, projected to cost $2 million and create six jobs
Eleven other projects are collectively projected to cost another $8.2 million and add another 105 jobs.
