Hamilton County Trustee Bill Hullander will be open New Year's Eve for taxpayers seeking to pay property taxes in 2011 to claim this year's federal tax deduction.

"That's going to be the last day that anyone can pay it and count it on this year's income tax filings," Ware said. "We always get complaints if that last day of the month we're not open."
Hullander has two offices -- one in the Hamilton County Courthouse and another at Bonny Oaks Industrial Park. Both will be open Saturday.
Taxpayers also can make payments at any First Tennessee Bank branch or online for a convenience fee at www.hamiltontn.gov/trustee.
"We do accept postmarks as well," Ware said. "If they postmark it on the 31st, it's considered paid on the 31st."
