Rhea County man to receive Civil Air Patrol honor

A Rhea County, Tenn., man will receive the Civil Air Patrol's highest cadet honor today at 7:30 p.m.

Civil Air Patrol Cadet Col. Daniel Fry Jr. will receive the General Carl A. Spaatz Award at Bryan College in Dayton, Tenn., according to a news release. He also will receive 2011's Tennessee Wing Cadet of the Year Award.

The Carl A. Spaatz Award is earned by less than 1 percent of Civil Air Patrol cadets. Those who get the award must show excellence in leadership, character, fitness and aerospace education, the news release said.
