A Hamilton County grand jury indicted two men on charges of trying to kill a rival gang member last fall after one of their gang's members was slain.
Dominque Ledell Brown, 18, and Darrell L. Armstrong, 25, were indicted on charges of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of 22-year-old JerMichael Richardson.
They also were charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and possession of a deadly weapon.
When interviewed by investigators, Brown and Armstrong mentioned two men as targets after Richardson, a fellow gang member, was shot to death following a confrontation on Pawnee Trail on Nov. 19.
"They were riding around looking for a man ... because they believed that he had committed the homicide and the victim of the homicide was a friend of theirs," the police report said. "They intended to 'do some dirt' to the man."
Police arrested Brown and Armstrong after they shot at a residence in retaliation for Richardson's death, according to court documents.
As police were investigating Richardson's shooting, they heard several gunshots from a block away on Tomahawk Trail, according to the indictment.
Brown and Armstrong were stopped in a white pickup nearby. Armstrong was driving and Brown was lying in the bed of the truck with two assault rifles, an AR-15 and a MAK-90, according to records.
Brown told police that he drove Armstrong to Tomahawk Trail for a retaliation shooting after hearing about Richardson's slaying.
Police later found bullet holes in the front of the nearby residence of Devante Stoudemire and in a garbage can in Stoudemire's driveway.
Stoudemire, 18, later was arrested on a first-degree murder charge in connection with Richardson's death. His next court date is Wednesday.
Brown and Armstrong are scheduled in court Feb. 18.
