A Chattanooga man was arrested and charged with two counts of false imprisonment, aggravated assault and possession of a handgun while under the influence of drugs after two women told police he held them against their will for three hours.

According to an arrest report, police responded to a neighbor's call that a man had fired shots and thrown a pistol under a shed early Saturday morning.

Robert Boyle, 22, of 6663 Bea Lane, told police he argued with two women and threw a firecracker. He denied having a gun, but police found a .22-caliber pistol under Boyle's shed and a holster and .22-caliber ammunition in his safe, the report stated.

Later, two women who saw police there came to the home and told officers Boyle held them captive for three hours. One woman said she argued with Boyle, who fired two shots in the air by her face, according to the report. The women escaped and went to a nearby Waffle House.

Police also found a small bag of cocaine and some marijuana. Boyle also was charged with possession of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Boyle was being held on $75,000 bail Saturday night and is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on Feb. 24.
