Council term limits die from lack of support

A proposal by Councilwoman Deborah Scott to put term limits on City Council members may need to raise its head another day.

Scott talked extensively about term limits today during the Legal and Legislative Committee meeting, saying she thought it would help bring more participation from the public on serving on the nine-member board.

But by the end of the meeting, there was no talk of including the idea as resolution by the council on any upcoming agenda.

Several members of the council publicly said they were against term limits, and Mayor Ron Littlefield also voiced opposition.

None of the council members voiced support during the committee meeting.
