Chattanooga: Afternoon grass fire off Highway 153

Chattanooga firefighters responded to a reported grass fire off Highway 153 South, near the Hamill Road railroad viaduct, around 3:00 this afternoon.

Passing motorists reported flames were shooting over the viaduct and threatening traffic on the roadway.

Once on the scene, the firefighters got the blaze under control in minutes.

The fire scorched an area of about an acre or less.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
