Hamilton commission, school board need more meetings, commissioners say

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

Hamilton County Commission Chairman Larry Henry said today the commission and school board need to have at least one more meeting, and possibly two, over who controls money from industrial payments in lieu of taxes and how to spend the funds.

The commission and the Hamilton County Board of Education met Monday about who should have control of PILOT funds from new employers coming into the county.

That was after the commission passed a resolution that would keep about $6 million of those funds and place them into a separate coffer for capital projects, such as building schools.

The school board maintains the money is needed now for its general fund.
