Bradley County: Award-winning storyteller visits schools here before Friday festival

CLEVELAND, Tenn. — National award-winning teller Lyn Ford visited some Bradley County schools this morning to tell tales from her family’s heritage.

“Storytelling is still important,” Ford said in a morning interview. “A lot of young people don’t have that front-porch, face-to-face experience, but storytelling is still alive on Facebook and all the other types of media.”

Ford, who has performed in 29 states and at international storytelling festivals in Ireland, will be a featured speaker at Friday’s 16th annual Ocoee Story Fest. One of Tennessee’s longest-running annual storytelling festivals, the event will be at Cleveland State Community College at 7 p.m.

The festival here is organized by the Cleveland Storytelling Guild and funded through the Allied Arts Council of the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce.
