Tuesday, February 22, 2011

A man and a woman were arrested last week in DeKalb County, Ala., and charged with manufacturing meth, officials said.

Jonathan Ray Walker, 33, and Shannon Denise Franks, 41, both of Henagar, were charged with first-degree manufacturing of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office.

Franks also was charged with failure to appear in connection with a court order on previous drug arrests.

On Thursday, DeKalb investigators and agents from the Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a camper located on Road 1911 in the Pea Ridge area, the release said. The warrant was issued in order to question Walker about some stolen property, according to the release.

When authorities arrived, Walker ran from the camper and was picked up later that night in Hamilton County, Tenn.

He was detained on charges already pending against him in Tennessee. He also has charges pending on him in Walker County, Ga.

Franks is in the DeKalb County Detention Center without bond.
