Knoxville baby burned after fire near crib

A 1-year-old baby was treated for minor burns after his cries alerted family members to flames licking around his crib Tuesday morning.

The mother and her teenage son were able to rescue the child from the burning bedroom at 1334 Brookside Ave., according to neighbors and firefighters.

'The mother was lying down and she heard the child crying and looked and saw the fire all around the crib,' said Knoxville Fire Department spokesman Capt. D.J. Corcoran.
