More than $2.4 million has been raised to protect 97 acres atop Stringer’s Ridge and make it a permanent natural area for public enjoyment, said Rick Wood, executive director of the Chattanooga Trust for Public Land.
Wood confirmed today that the Trust for Public Land had reached its monetary goal to preserve the property that overlooks downtown Chattanooga.
He said more additional details would come later.
The Trust for Public Land, along with other private organizations, individuals and the city of Chattanooga, have been working for almost two years to raise the money to keep the land as is. Plans call for the area to be an urban forest with hiking, running and biking trails.
