The top military officer in Tennessee has announced a new commander for the state's Air National Guard.
Maj. Gen. Max Haston said Tuesday that Col. Donald L. Johnson will head the Tennessee Air National Guard.
"Col. Johnson brings a great deal of professionalism and experience to the job at both the state and national level," Haston said in a news release.
Johnson serves as deputy director of Manpower, Personnel and Services for the Air National Guard in Washington D.C.
The 1976 Karns High School graduate in Knoxville entered the active duty U.S. Air Force after graduation and joined the Tennessee Air National Guard two years later.
Johnson deployed in Operation Desert Shield/Storm, twice to Iraq during the current war and in multiple other overseas missions.
