Heritage in semis

Heritage won its only match Friday in the Georgia Class AAA state wrestling duals at Locust Grove, defeating the hosts 51-19.

The Generals, who face Woodward Academy this morning at 8 in the quarterfinals, received pins from Landon Reed, Cody Goins, Logan Perkins, Michael Moore and Dylan Lowe. Traditional tournament champion and defending duals titlist Gilmer County also cruised into the quarterfinals.

In Class AA at Toombs County, pre-tournament favorites Jefferson and Sonoraville breezed into the semifinals. Sonoraville received a first-round forfeit past Fitzgerald, then defeated Toombs 55-16. Jefferson started with a 56-9 win over Greater Atlanta Christian before downing Cook 56-19. Sonoraville will face Lovett while Jefferson will go against Spencer in today's semifinals.

In Class A at Bremen, the favored host team defeated Commerce for the championship. Gordon Lee finished third after falling 37-34 to Commerce and winning 57-22 over Wesleyan and 42-25 over Holy Innocents'.
