Keegan Bell led the Mocs with 25 ponts and Ricky Taylor added 14 points.
Josh Bedwell and Andy King each had 14 points for the Bulldogs.
The Mocs trailed 34-31 at halftime. UTC recovered to take two different seven-point leads in the second half. But Samford out-scored the Mocs 10-7 over the final four minutes of regulation.
Bell missed a 3-pointer with five seconds to go and Samford missed a half-court heave at the buzzer.
In overtime, Bell scored eight of UTC’s twelve points.
