Commissioners deadlock on vice chairman

It's a case of deja vu this morning at the Hamilton County Commission office as commissioners have deadlocked 4-4 between Jim Fields or Chester Bankston for the vice chairman post.

Commissioners decided to postpone their vote for vice chairman.

The vice chairman post became available since Commissioner Larry Henry replaced Jim Coppinger as chairman when Coppinger left that role to become mayor. Coppinger succeeded Claude Ramsey, who resigned this week to join Gov.-elect Bill Haslam's administration.

Commissioners also described the process for selecting a replacement for Coppinger's District 3 commission seat. Henry said there would also be a forum at Hixson Middle School for all the District 3 candidates on Jan. 24. There was no announcement of a time for the forum.
