A fourth-grade Chattooga County science teacher has been arrested by Trion, Ga., police on allegations of sexual misconduct involving a 15-year-old and on pornography charges, records show.
David Kenneth Daniel, 48, of Lyerly, Ga., was charged Monday night with enticing a child for indecent purposes, criminal attempt to commit child molestation, and possession of computer and electronic pornography, according to records in the Chattooga County Magistrate Court office.
Chattooga County Schools Superintendent Dwight Pullen said he was “stunned” by the arrest.
Daniel, 48, has been with the school system since August 2001. He was a fourth-grade science teacher at Leroy Massey Elementary School in Lyerly, Ga., at the time he was arrested, Pullen said. The victim is not a Chattooga County student, he said.
Daniel currently is barred from any Chattooga County school campus pending further internal investigation, Pullen said.
Chattooga County Jail officials said Daniel is free on a $75,000 property bond.

This is certainly a sad case and unfortunatly becoming commonplace. Remember the days when the teaching profession carried with it the requirement of dignity, integrity and respect? I know a retired teacher who said she was expected to dress and carry herself a specific way while at the school on or off the clock. In her career, she never uttered an off color word or any such thing in the building since it was understood a teacher was to be revered and if respected, the teacher would have to hold themselves above reproach. WOW!! We sure have come a long way on a down hill spiral, haven't we?

Get the facts before frying this guy. What a lynch mob mentality! He had no idea about the woman's age and he was set up in a Barney Fife police sting. Her age was misrepresented throughout. He may need to find a better way to meet women, but he isn't some child molester. The cops should be sued for destroying this guy's career. He is a great teacher and neighbor. What a shame to see him destroyed by lunatics.
Too many people want to hang this teacher even before the facts are in. This "hanging" mentality has got to go.
Could have been worse on his career,he could have got caught on Dateline investigation and went national on career damage.
Everyone Lynch mobbed Tonya Craft and she was aquitted of all charges. They ruined her life for 2+ years and took her kids away! Imagine the scorn looks and snub noses she got. The emotional stress and ruin. Cops can charge anyone with anything at anytime and ruin anyone's life. I am not saying he did or did not, all I am saying is that he hasn't been tried yet. Don't believe everything you read in the media. There's no justice there's just costs. If they are wrong even in the slightest the cops, DA and everyone else should be sued and removed.
I don't think they should be allowed to do this sting it is set up and they entice the person to make advances towards the victim it should be against the law for them misleading themselves this should be stopped,it is wrong both ways
I think that all of you need to look at the big picture. Even if he did not do anything that does not matter. The fact is that he was going to that park to meet a child, and had intentions of doing sexual things with that child. He is a sick person, and should not be allowed back into the school system. This man was/is my childs science teacher!! I do not want a perv teaching my child. I am sure anyone else who has young children would agree.
And also, inregards to them setting up the sting..... Dont do something like that, and you will not get caught!! I feel they should continue the stings, and catch sick people like him.
