Chattanooga police have arrested a woman in connection with the hit and run of a 7-year-old boy on Friday.

April Denton has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failure to render aid after police say she hit the boy as he was attempting to cross Fourth Avenue at East 27th Street when he was hit.

The child suffered facial abrasions but had no life-threatening injuries.

Police located Denton walking in the 4900 block of Fagan Street while en route to locate her at her home Sunday.

Denton told police she was aware that she'd hit the child, but saw him get up and back on his bicycle and didn't think that she'd hurt him.
