Lookouts homer their way past Smokies, 6-4

KODAK, Tenn. — The Chattanooga Lookouts wiped out a three-run deficit to defeat the Tennessee Smokies 6-4 in Southern League baseball Sunday.

Chattanooga trailed 3-0 entering the seventh inning and 3-2 entering the eighth, when Scott Van Slyke opened with a home run to left field and Travis Denker followed with a homer to left-center to put the Lookouts ahead to stay. After a Griff Erickson groundout, Ivan Ochoa homered to left-center to make it 5-3.

Chattanooga (12-6 second half) got its first run when Jaime Pedroza got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

Game four of the four-game series is tonight at 7:15. Allen Webster (2-1, 3.79 ERA) is scheduled to start on the mound for the Lookouts, with Dallas Beeler (1-4, 4.75) scheduled for the Smokies.
