Blockbuster in Hixson open last day

Blockbuster stores in the Chattanooga area continue to close, with the Hixson store the latest casualty.

Today is the store’s last day, and on Thursday it will be permanently closed, said employee Shannon Yeargain.

Customers will be able to buy discounted items, but there will be no rentals, she said.

The shutdown of Blockbuster’s Hixson store follows the closure of stores on Dayton Boulevard, Gunbarrel Road and Lee Highway. Stores are still open on Ringgold Road and Highway 58, Cleveland and Battlefield Parkway, according to an employee who asked not to be named.
