SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. - Police say a man fatally shot his estranged wife and then killed himself in a condo complex in suburban Atlanta.

Sandy Springs police say Irene and Jamal Mickens were both found dead this morning from gunshot wounds to the head. Police spokesman Lt. Steve Rose says the pair's 5-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son were originally thought to be missing but were later found at Jamal Mickens' sister's home in McDonough.

Rose says Irene and Jamal Mickens were married but separated.

Police say Irene Mickens' father called police Tuesday night to ask for a welfare check on her after he was unable to reach her. Police went to the condo and knocked on the door but got no answer. Officers found the bodies after entering the condo today around 10 a.m.
