The Hamilton County District Attorney's Office is asking Gov. Bill Haslam to offer a reward in the search for a missing Signal Mountain woman.

In a letter sent to Haslam's legal counsel Wednesday, District Attorney General Bill Cox requests a "monetary reward for information or assistance" in locating Gail Palmgren, 44, who has been missing since April 30.

In the letter, Cox specifies that Palmgren last spoke with her husband, Matthew Palmgren, that day and he writes that, since then, "no reported communication with her has existed."

It's unusual for the state to offer a reward in a missing person case, but it's not unprecedented.

Less than a week after 20-year-old Holly Bobo was reported kidnapped from her Parsons, Tenn., home this year, Haslam endorsed a $50,000 reward for information leading to her recovery.

On Wednesday, Haslam's office announced that rewards were being offered in three additional unsolved cases in Tennessee - $10,000 rewards for a missing woman and in the case of the stabbing death of a woman and $5,000 in the case a missing 4-month-old.

No charges have been filed in the Palmgren case, and police have listed no suspects.

Because investigators have no evidence showing foul play, they have entered into a consent order with Matthew Palmgren to search the couple's properties, including their Signal Mountain home, lake house in Alabama and a storage unit in Red Bank.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is reviewing the case at the request of the Hamilton County District Attorney's Office.

The couple have two children, ages 12 and 9.
