A body found in a room at the Super 8 Motel on Lee Highway is probably a suicide, police said.

The middle-aged man, who was from the Chattanooga area, checked into the motel Wednesday about 4 p.m., motel officials said. When he didn't leave at the 11 a.m. checkout time, motel employees opened his door and found his body inside.

He died of a gunshot wound, police said.

His name has not been released.
