Mocs' Joel Bradford a man of Steele

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga has five players on Phil Steele's preseason magazine All-Southern Conference football teams, led by wide receiver Joel Bradford, who also was named second-team All-American in the publication.

Three Mocs were on Steele's All-SoCon first team: Bradford, linebacker Ryan Consiglio and cornerback Kadeem Wise. Quarterback B.J. Coleman and defensive end Josh Williams made the second team, as did Bradford as a punt returner.

Bradford set a school record with 1,284 receiving yards last season and was named third-team All-American by Steele and the Associated Press. The senior from Chattanooga is UTC's first returning All-American since linebacker Josh Cain in 2002.

The Mocs are ranked No. 19 in Steele's preseason poll. Georgia Southern is ranked No. 3, Appalachian State No. 5 and Wofford is No. 9. Steele's inaugural All-Football Championship Subdivision preseason magazine, the first of its kind, comes out Aug. 16.

The Mocs begin preseason practice on Aug. 4 and open their season Sept. 3 at Nebraska.
