East Ridge police have charged a 25-year-old undocumented immigrant with charges including DUI, four counts of vehicular assault and six counts of reckless endangerment after he struck a Pontiac Torrent head on while driving the wrong way on Interstate 24 early Saturday morning.
Jesus Morales Bonilla, the driver of a black Dodge Ram going the wrong way, had two different IDs with him when police found him.
Morales Bonilla’s information has been passed on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said Officer Erik Hopkins, spokesman for East Ridge Police Department.
A total of six people were transported to local hospitals from the collision that involved three vehicles. A third vehicle became involved when they were unable to avoid the collision, according to a released statement.
Everyone has been released from the hospital, Hopkins said Monday morning.
Morales Bonilla, who has a Chattanooga residence, was also charged with implied consent law and driving without a license. He scheduled to go before a judge July 26.
As of Monday afternoon he had no bond set, according to the Hamilton County Jail website.

Come on TFP..."undocumented immigrant"? Stop it! He is a criminal (now an accused felon) immigrant.
He broke US Federal and State laws. Try him and send him to jail with the bill going to his and his family for housing him. Make him buy his own food and comfort items while in jail. Then, when he gets out, send him back!
What, no bond set? Whatever do these judges think, making this poor lad waste away in jail. They don't really think he would run if released on bail, do they? Heavens, no...the lad would stay and face the music.
