The City Council is set to vote tonight on its $57 million capital budget in a first reading.

The council had some discussion today about specific projects within the budget, which covers the 2011-2012 fiscal year, including a $500,000 donation to the Chattanooga History Museum over the next two years so the organization can construct a building.

Councilwoman Sally Robinson said she did not think money should be donated and it was the city's responsibility to concentrate on infrastructure for such projects, not money for a building the "city doesn't even own."

The council will hold more budget discussions next week during a special meeting.
