Two hospitalized after Ochs Highway truck accident in Chattanooga

Two people were sent to the hospital after a truck's brakes failed while traveling down Ochs Highway around 11 a.m. Wednesday, according to Chattanooga police.

As truck driver James Walling, 28, lost control of the vehicle, he veered off the curvy highway that runs down Lookout Mountain, said police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary.

The truck headed over he guardrail and tumbled down part of the mountainside, trapping him and a passenger.

Both had to extracted from the truck cab before being treated for what Weary said were likely not life-threatening injuries.

The truck carried sheetrock for the S&M Building Supplies Co. Weary said charges in the single-vehicle accident are pending further investigation.
