5 at 10: Sports stories that won't go away

Hope this finds you well. As you read this, the 5-at-10 is hiking high above sea level in the greater Montana mountains. This joint is a way up here now. Think Rock City on triple-dose PED cocktail mixed by Barry Bonds, Lance Armstrong and Roger Clemens. So it goes. Here’s today’s mini-5-at-10:

Five sports stories/characters that if we never hear from them again it will be OK by us:

— Brett Favre coming out of retirement

— Steroids in general and steroids and Lance and Barry and Clemens in particular

— The Dodgers and the McCourts’ divorce

— Any sports story that includes the phrase “labor unrest” in the first three sentences

— MMA (kidding, EC, kidding. Really.) Let’s go with paying NCAA athletes.

I'm sorry to bypass the subject at hand but Alabama, who is down to 3 scholarship running back, informed ledge jumping Tide fans that Trent Richardson's backup tore his pectoral muscle and will miss anywhere from a few games to the whole season... leaving only 2 running backs on the team.

Okay, here I go, jump and make the pain go away. Jump and make the pain go away. AHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhh h h h h h h h h h h h h h h h h h h h h h .......... ... .... (splat)

Lovely picture of the former Minnesota Golden Gopher NCAA National Champion, Former WWE superstar and current Top 5 MMA Heavyweight...Brock Lesnar...who likes to celebrate climbing on top of his wife...interesting choice of words I must say...

Enjoy the Big Sky and say hello to Ted Turner for me...Will you ?...Thanks!

P-Davi...I feel your pain...IM hearing the Reggie Bush has some eligibility left and hes thinking of making an NCAA comeback if the Dolphins dont sign him to a huge deal....

So the Patriots signed Albert Haynesworth... and wow...I really dont like anyones chances against the Pats with a motivated Haynesworth on D.... and I hate saying that because I hate the Pats almost as much as I hate the...Phillies (spit) just saying that word leaves an awful taste in my mouth...

EC, I'll be honest with you, around week 4 if things aren't going well, I'd take Reggie and the baggage.

P-Davi If Saban Doesnt Have a Heisman Candidate this year...He will be on the Hot Seat in Tuscaloosa...there is no debating that....

(pdavi is peeling himself off the sidewalk long enough to respond with every day Bama homerism.)

That's a good point, EC, but I tell you this. It's looking a lot like Trent Richardson just went from 20 carries a game to 30-35 carries a game. If, yes I said IF, he can stay healthy, he may very well give Saban his Heisman candidate.

200 extra carries for a healthy Trent Richardson could lap the field.

i just wanna say that Montanna is one of those places that i dream of retiring too. I know, some dream of the beach, I however, dream of the outdoors. I can begin to put into words how jealous i am of you Cinco right at this moment. Give me the mountain air, a cool trout filled mtn stream and a fly rod and im set for life....Not to mention the INCREDIBLE hunting opportunities up there!! UGH!!!

A Healthy Trent Richardson, I feel, is better than any Mark Ingram...only time will tell..But I believe the Tides Success lies upon the shoulders of a Healthy Trent Richardson...and the man has shoulders big enough to carry the burden...

And for the record...i dont think Alabama is in half the debacle that UGA is in concerning their backfield. At least yall dont have a converted linebacker running the ball for you yet...Bama will be just fine and how is it even possible that Saban is in the Hot Seat debate after what he's done with that program?! You Bama fans are have some serious coaching really...

I have one memory of Chamberlin Field...The UTC Pink Symposium...which was held about 1 to 2 years was an effort by the Local Susan G Komen foundation to construct the Worlds Largest Breast Cancer Ribbon with people...i dont think we were successful..but it was fun none the less....i have to say that the above pictures of Brock Lesnar and Bret Favre...they are positioned almost perfectly for it seem like Brock Lesnar is looking at Bret with..." I really hope hes serious otherwise IM gonna KO him" good work!
