Rescue workers searched near Sale Creek for a missing boater Thursday afternoon after two men were separated from their boat and only one made the swim back to shore.The 59-year-old man who disappeared Thursday while fishing with his father has been named by state officials.
Martin King, of Sale Creek, was fishing with his 80-year-old father Thursday when he decided to jump into the Tennessee River to cool himself. His father, Ed King, saw his son struggling in the river and jumped in to save him but began to struggle, too.
Two Dalton, Ga., men were able to save Ed King, but Martin King hasn't been seen again.
The boat was in about 40 feet of water when the men went over the side, officials said.
Due to heavy currents, the search has been expanded to a larger portion of the river, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency spokesman Dan Hicks said.
The agency will continue to search for Martin King until 10 p.m. tonight and again Saturday if he's not found today, Hicks said.
