UTC graduates will have to wait a little bit longer to get their hard-earned diplomas because of a printing error, according to school officials.

About 900 graduates were supposed to get their diplomas around July 1, but there were printing errors at Jostens, a company in Minneapolis, Minn., the university uses, said Cindy Carroll, a spokeswomen at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Chris Beechwood, who graduated with his master's in business administration at the beginning of May, said he first was told his diploma would be ready in six to eight weeks.

"I called after seven or eight weeks, and I was told it was eight to 10 weeks and that they had a problem with the printer and I would be getting it soon," he said.

"It bothers me because really, they had our grades and everything shortly after graduation so they knew who had graduated and it was a matter of printing out graduation certificates," he said. "I don't understand why it takes six to eight or 10 weeks."

Carroll said the corrected diplomas are expected soon and will be mailed out as soon as they arrive.
