Lewis joins DeMoss Capital

Frank Lewis has joined DeMoss Capital where he will serve as an investment manager.

Lewis brings 18 years of experience in trust and investments and was most recently vice president and portfolio manager for the trust department of FSG Bank, which he helped start in 2004.

Mixon, Hemphill join Erlanger units

Dr. Avery Mixon has joined Erlanger Hospital's Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders, and Dr. John Carter Hemphill has joined Erlanger's UT cardiology unit.

Dr. Mixon, board-certified in general pediatrics and fellowship trained in pediatric hematology and oncology, will join Drs. Manoo Bhakta, Eric Gratias, and Jennifer Keates at the center. He earned his Medical Degree from the University of Mississippi and his residency at the University of South Florida and continued his training at Vanderbilt University, completing his fellowship training in pediatric hematology and oncology.

Dr. Mixon is an associate member of the Southern Medical Association, Children's Oncology Group, American Society of Clinical Oncology, and American Society of Hematology and a trainee with the American Society of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology.

The Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children's Hospital is the only comprehensive cancer and blood disorders center in the region and treats more than 3,500 patients each year.

Dr. Hemphill is joining Erlanger's team of 11 board-certified cardiologists, which includes specialists in interventional procedures, electrophysiology and nuclear cardiology.

Double board-certified in interventional cardiology and cardiovascular disease, Dr. Hemphill earned his Medical Degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, S.C., and his residency at both Brockton Hospital, part of Boston University Medical Center, and the University of Texas Health Science Center.

He continued his training, completing his fellowship in cardiovascular disease from the University of Texas at San Antonio and his fellowship in interventional cardiology at Scott & White, part of the University of Texas and Texas A&M College of Medicine.

In addition, Dr. Hemphill has been awarded diplomate status from both the American Board of Vascular Medicine and the Board of Nuclear Cardiology. Prior to joining UT Erlanger Cardiology, Dr. Hemphill practiced with Augusta Cardiology Clinic in Augusta, Ga.

Fortwood Center relocates facilities

The Fortwood Center, Chattanooga's oldest provider of community mental health services, has relocated to The Corporate Image West on Shallowford Road. The new facilities allow for the expansion of its services for area children and adolescents, which include psychiatric evaluation, counseling, case management, parenting classes and anger management groups. Fortwood's administrative offices also have relocated to the new facilities, which were funded by proceeds from the Center's capital campaign and sale of its Third Street property.

Fortwood Center was established in 1945 as the Child Guidance Clinic and later became the Chattanooga Psychiatric Clinic. It was renamed Fortwood Center in 1985.

Terenine solutions promotes Peterson

Terenine Technology Solutions has promoted Brian Peterson to vice president of application development. Peterson is charged with taking the Terenine applications services and solutions to market, delivering outstanding customer experience and managing a team of more than 25 architects, developers, engineers and managers.

"Brian is a talented and proven leader, coach and technologist who knows how to get the best from people and technology," said Dave Carney, Terenine president. "And, with his in-depth e-commerce background on the customer side, he was a natural choice to lead this team as we expand our application development offering to a broader market."

Peterson joined Terenine in August 2010 as director of applications development from a national manufacturer of golf equipment and accessories, where he was director of e-commerce for two years.

Additionally, Peterson was director of e-business with a national insurance company where he improved its individual line of business Web footprint and conversion rate for the online applications, and reduced average time to complete an online application by 40 percent. Peterson earned his bachelor of science in computer information systems from Purdue University.

Terenine Technology Solutions, based in Chattanooga, offers an array of technology solutions, including virtualization and cloud-based services, colocation, disaster recovery, backup and tiered storage, applications development and professional services.

Blasick joins Parkridge practice

Physician assistant Trish Blasick has joined Parkridge Medical Group Diagnostic Center, where she will serve with internal medicine specialists Dr. John Tapp and Dr. Chip Crump.

Blasick has more than 15 years of experience in clinical settings and will provide primary care services in the Diagnostic Center practice. She holds a bachelor of science from Bethel College and a master of science in physician assistant studies from Bethel College.

Prior to coming to Chattanooga, Blasick served as a physician assistant for internal medicine practices in Jackson, Whitwell and Dunlap, Tenn. She is a member of the Tennessee Academy of Physician Assistants.

Ooltewah woman named top achiever

Sherrie Forrest, of Ooltewah, received a top honor at Silpada Designs national conference.

Forrest received the first place Rookie New Business Developer award, and she and her recruits earned the highest amount in retail sales this year, which was her first year as a Silpada representative.

Forrest was selected to receive the award out of 33,000 Silpada Designs independent representatives.

Silpada Designs is a jewelry home party company whose primary focus is offering a collection of sterling silver jewelry.

Dunham gets Winner's Circle

Financial adviser David E. Dunham, of Fort Oglethorpe, has received the Edward Jones Winner's Circle Award.

Dunham was cited for exemplary client service, and he said it is committed to a long-term investment strategy that emphasizes quality and diversification.
