Barons' Marrero paces 13-3 rout of Lookouts

HOOVER, Ala. - The Birmingham Barons scored a run in the first inning and seven in the second and beat the visiting Chattanooga Lookouts 13-3 in Southern League baseball Friday night.

Christian Marrero went 4-for-5 with two home runs, three RBIs and five runs scored for the Barons in the series finale. Tyler Kuhn and Seth Loman each had two hits and two RBIs for Birmingham, and Josh Phegley and Alden Carrithers each was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Phegley's double followed five singles and a walk in Birmingham's big inning.

No Lookout had more than one hit. Elian Herrera, Corey Smith and Scott Van Slyke scored the Chattanooga runs.

Game one of Chattanooga's five-game series against Carolina at AT&T Field is tonight at 7:15. Chris Withrow (1-5, 5.57 ERA) is scheduled to start on the mound for the Lookouts, with Pedro Villareal (1-0, 0.00) scheduled for the Mudcats.
