Chattanooga police conducting saturation patrols in East Chattanooga over the weekend made 44 arrests and seized drugs and cash, according to a news release.
Police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary said in the release that officers picked up 39 adults and five juveniles on charges ranging from traffic offenses to drugs and robbery. Two of those arrested, Quintus Broadnax and Michael Branham, were on the Hamilton County Sheriff's Most Wanted list.
Weary did not say exactly when or where the saturation patrols were conducted.
Officers seized 64 grams of marijuana, 2.4 grams of crack cocaine and 29 pills, plus $1,421 in cash, she said.
East Ridge police said a wheelchair-bound man having an argument with his wife slashed her neck and then threw himself out his apartment window early Sunday morning.
Cabryant McClendon, 29, has been charged with attempted murder, East Ridge police spokesman Erik Hopkins said in a news release.
His wife, whose name was not released, is in critical condition at Erlanger hospital, Hopkins said.
Police were called to Thrippence Apartments on Fountain Avenue at 2:38 a.m. They saw the woman lying on the ground in a breezeway with a large cut on the left side of her neck.
She could not speak to officers, but several people who were trying to help her told police her husband was in the apartment, Hopkins said. Witnesses told police the couple had been arguing.
When police went in, they saw that McClendon, who uses a wheelchair, had thrown himself from the second-floor window. He was taken into custody, treated and released at Erlanger and lodged in the Hamilton County Jail, Hopkins said.
