Authorities are still trying to locate a missing boater after two people fell overboard from a sailboat early this morning.
Witnesses on the boat told authorities the two people were involved in a fight before falling overboard near Chickamauga Dam. One resurfaced, but the other person has not been seen since.
“We assume both of them were not wearing life jackets,” said Dan Hicks, spokesman for the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.
Officials say at this point the chances of survival for the missing boater are slim and they consider this to be a recovery effort.
Authorities are searching between three locations: Chickamauga Dam, Erwin Marina and Top of the Dock.
The Marine Unit from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department and investigators with Chattanooga police are investigating the case as a boating accident.
