The Dalton Police Department has told the Times Free Press that it will begin Operation Zero Tolerance Friday, joining a nationwide mobilization of law enforcement agencies to combat drivers who drive while under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Operation Zero Tolerance will be in force through the July 4 holiday weekend, police said.

A Dalton Police official says concentrated patrols and random road checks will be conducted throughout the city at strategic locations.
