Chattanooga closed out the first half with a six-run ninth inning to beat the Tennessee Smokies 11-6 and capture its first series against Tennessee and finish with a 35-35 record.
The Lookouts trailed 6-5 until Kyle Russell's three-run home run to right scored Alfredo Silverio and Elian Herrera. Scott Van Slyke followed with a single to center and scored to make it 9-6 on Wilberto Ortiz's ground-rule double to left.
Silverio went 4-for-5 and now leads the Lookouts with a .324 average.
The Lookouts have the next three days off because of the Southern League All-Star break and will start the second half at home against Jacksonville on Thursday night at 7:15.
The teams will decide their second-half starters later in the week.
